01Collection commands
enable
configure terminal
show running-config enable asks for a password. The output of show running-config is paged with --More--; in a manual session, the space bar moves forward.
02What to remove from the file
The VSOL session mixes the welcome banner, the last login and lines with date and time into the output. If they stay in the file, every backup looks different from the previous one even when the configuration did not change.
Nexus removes those lines and the pager control characters before saving.
03The enable password
Nexus answers the enable password prompt with the same password as the login user. If the OLT uses different passwords, make them the same for the backup user, or the backup never reaches the configuration.
04Passwords in the file
Nexus does not remove passwords from VSOL files. Keep the backup server under restricted access and cloud copies in a protected account.
05Automatic collection with Nexus
Nexus collects from VSOL over SSH (no Telnet). Collection runs at the scheduled time, stores versions only when something changed and lets you compare dates. To restore, see How to restore a configuration from backup.
